Rumor: Sony to Introduce a new SKU. Again. PDF Print E-mail

So, the rumors all around the internets today say that Sony will be introducing a new SKU with a 120/160 gig PS3 and a Dual Shock 3. Folks, this make 5 different PS3 configs that Sony has introduced since the launch of the console.

I can certainly understand adding a Dual Shock 3, that is sane and rational. But with the 40 gig PS3 selling like hotcakes, why make a new SKU with a bigger HDD that will cost $100 more? The 40 gig bundle is selling great in Europe, Asia, and America, so why bother? Everyone knows I like my PS3, and I want it to succeed, but stupid shit like this boggles my mind.

In summary: OLOL SONY

What Sony needs to be doing is concentrating on a core unit that they can base all their workings off of. Once they have an established foothold, than they can go ahead and mess around with it.

What they are doing is confusing customers as to which one to buy, since each one is fairly different to the last. All that is doing is getting potential customers to wait it out to see what's coming next.

People are willing to pay more for a better product, and the 80 is by far better than the 40 gig (though an inferior product in all ways but space to the discontinued 60). I wonder what aside from the dual shock and the HDD will be different, as I have no faith in Sony leaving stuff alone at this point.

Actually the 80GB sold nearly 2 to 1 over the 40 GB everywhere it was offered at 100 dollars more.
